Frequently Asked Questions
-
The 'crew' at Dandelion Vintage has put together this page to answer your most common questions -
How do I place an order - Where do I mail payment?
*** The
ordering info links are at the top and bottom of every page on the
website. The info includes my policies, and payments. Just hit the 'Add to Order' button to put the item in your shopping cart. If
you email me with your order - please include item number and description. I will give
you my address when you place your order. Payments are to be made out to
my name. Your order will be held for you for 7 business days, payment is due within that time. If payment isn't
received by then, the item will be taken off of hold unless you let me know
of any delay in sending payment.
**Please note that asking a question about an item does not put it on hold for you. An item does not go on hold until you are ready to commit to purchase it.
If you ask a question and I don't hear back from you for a few days, the item will be sold to whoever comes along and commits to the purchase in the meantime.
What payments do you accept?
*** By money orders, and personal
check or credit card payment through PayPal.
If you send me a money order,
or use PayPal, your order will go out on my next mailing day after I receive the payment.
If you
send a check, your order will be held 10 business days for check clearance through my bank -
regardless of how many times you have ordered from me before. I do not
take credit card payments directly myself. Please do not send me your credit card number.
What is PayPal, How does it work?
*** PayPal is free for buyers. If you note credit card as your form of payment, I will send you an invoice through PayPal. If you are registered with PayPal, you only have to sign in to pay. If you are not registered, you can just fill in your payment info manually and you do NOT have to join PayPal.
It's very simple and I've never had a problem using PayPal. I do not take credit card payments directly
myself.
How do you ship?
*** I ship by US mail, usually Priority,
sometimes First class on small items. Priority mail usually takes 2 to 4 days
to deliver, First Class is 5 to 7 or longer. I cannot guarantee that a package
will arrive on time, I can only get it to the post office as quickly as I
can. Once the Post office has it - we are at their mercy. Guaranteed 2 day delivery is available for an
extra charge, email me for costs. I usually ship on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday morning. Insurance is optional and it is for your own protection.
Packages insured for over $50 require a signature for delivery. All packages are shipped with delivery confirmation.
If you need an item by a certain date, please email and let me know first, so that I can let you know your shipping choices and costs.
*** Special note - Packages insured for over $50 will require a signature for delivery. The mailman will
leave an orange card in your box, if you are not at home when they attempt to deliver the
package. You can sign the card to waiver the signature for the package, and they will redeliver it. Or you can go to the post office
to pick up the package yourself. You must make arrangements to have someone receive or pick up the package.
If the package is unclaimed within 2 weeks, it will be shipped back to me. If any package
comes back to me as unclaimed, or undeliverable, you will have to pay to
have the package reshipped. I will NOT pay to have the package reshipped.
If you want to cancel an order that has been returned to me, there will be a 20% restocking fee, and the shipping cost will not be refunded.
What is your return policy?
*** My items are all accurately described and measured, and reasonably priced, so there would be
no reason for you to return an item. If you have any questions or doubts about an item, please email me
with any questions first. I do stand behind my items and how I represent their age and condition. I have occasionally made
honest oversights or mistakes when listing items. If you feel that an item has been misrepresented,
then please contact me as soon as you receive the item and we will find a solution.
Items have been measured twice for accuracy. Please check your own measurements carefully.
I will not accept returns for items that do not fit, or because they are not the color that you wanted, or
for buyer's remorse. Otherwise there are no returns, exchanges or credits. Do not send an item back to
me expecting to be able to return it - I will refuse the package.
What is the difference between Good and Very Good condition etc?
Excellent - I'm very stingy with calling something 'excellent' I usually only use
that for unworn clothing, nice and super crisp. Can I say perfect? Pretty much perfect.
Very Good - near perfect, maybe a tiny-tiny flaw that doesn't detract from wearing.
I may call something 'Very good to excellent condition' which would mean that it has been worn, but is
still crisp with no flaws.
Good condition - Still very nice and wearable, may have a few flaws. If you are very
finicky, or self conscious about wearing something with somewhat noticeable flaws, you may want
to pass on an item in good condition and stick to something that is in very good condition.
Fair or Poor - I have an 'AS-IS Damaged' item section on the website. Those are for
collectors, costumers or people who like a good project to work on. These items show obvious wear and
noticeable flaws. Most of those aren't wearable, or require alot of work to possibly make them wearable.
Why don't you list the dress sizes like 9/10 etc?
*** Items
are listed with the measurements that the item will fit instead of dress sizes, to ensure a better
fit. Most vintage items don't have sizes marked in them and I don't want to
guess. Just get out the tape measure and check to be sure. I usually allow a
little extra when I take measurements, maybe a 1/2 inch or so. But be sure
to allow yourself some extra room when you take your measurements. Measure
across the fullest part of your breast and hips/behind. When I say 'fits 34 inch bust' that means the item will fit someone with a 34 inch bust, I have have already allowed
for extra movement room, the garment itself will actually measure bigger than 34 inches.
Do you give discounts or wholesale prices?
*** No, sorry. I will pay the shipping & insurance on
orders over $250 - if you pay by CHECK or MONEY ORDER
. No free shipping if you pay by credit card or if you are ordering from outside of the US. Other than that I
don't discount my prices because I feel that my prices are already very reasonable. But I do run special sales several times
a year, so join my mailing list to get the scoop.
I am disappointed when I see something that I like, and it is marked
'Sold' - why do you leave 'Sold' items on your site?
*** I mark an
item as Sold when I receive payment. I wait at least a week after I ship the
item before I take the Sold item off of the site. That is so that the buyer
can re-check the description after they receive the item, in case there is
any problem. Also it is a good reference for people to see the variety of
items that I list on the site, and to use when they like a sold item, they
can ask me to look for that similar style for them in the future.
My pet peeves:
- If you change your mind about your order and no longer can or want to
buy it, PLEASE let me know so that I can take the items off of hold. It's the polite thing to do for other potential customers.
- Please don't email me asking if I've received your payment yet. You
will hear from me if I haven't received it within 10 days.
- Please don't email me asking when your item will be shipped. Once the
check clears my bank, your package will go out. I always email when I ship out
orders. Don't email me saying that the check has cleared your bank,
and to please ship the order.
I won't. It takes an average of 10 days for a check to clear my bank.
After it has cleared my bank, I'll ship your order
- Please email me with just one email address. Don't email me from all
different addresses, like from your friend's computer, or from work. Please don't
email me from your job if you are not suppose to be online at work. Don't email me
an order and then tell me not to email you at work because you will get in
trouble. I automaticlly reply directly to the email address that you use
to place your order. I handle 50 sales a week and I can't always remember
who not to email at what email address.
- Please only email to ask availability of an item when you are ready to order that item, right now.
There is no point in asking if a dress is available today if you are going to think a few days about if you want to buy it or not. Yes, it
may be available today, but it may not be available when you decide to buy it a few days later.
Just because you ask if an item is available, does not mean that it is being held for you until you decide
to buy it or not. The item will go to the first person who wants to order it for sure.
Wow, rereading the
above stuff, I sound like a bitch! But I'm not. I am very reasonable and
easy to work with, just be reasonable with me. I love selling vintage clothes and I feel very lucky to
have been able to 'fall' into doing it. I appreciate everyone who visits my
site, even if they don't make a purchase. I enjoy the nice letters that I
get from people telling me about their visiting and enjoying the site.
