Antique Civil War Mourning Bonnet, 1800s Black Silk with Wool Lining AS IS
True 1800s soft bodied bonnet made of black silk taffeta with grey wool flannel lining. Probably a hand made bonnet for mourning during the Civil War Victorian era.
It will fit about a 21 to 22 inch head.
The folded front brim has tiny pin tucks. The hat is gathered across the back of the neck and there are silk ribbon chin ties. Full lined with thin grey wool flannel.
Fair condition. It is delicate and I don't recommend wearing it.
There is a large 4 inch split in the silk across the top and a 2 inch inch split on one side. Several small 1/8 inch holes in the silk.
The wool lining has multiple holes from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch in size.
Also some small holes and splitting in the silk chin ties.
Nice item for careful display.
