Hand Made Purse for 1938 New Jersey State Fair Competition
Era - 1938
Measurements - 8-1/2 x 8 inches
Label - none, hand made
Fabric - silk taffeta
Interesting little purse that was entered as 'Most Appropriate gift for an elderly lady' at the 1938 New Jersey State Fair. It is made of an olive-brown taffeta with hand stitched trapunto quilting on the front and the back. Has ivory lining, two short straps and a metal zipper closure.
Condition - Very good condition. There are a few small holes in the silk around the top edge fold and there is a 1/4 inch hole on the side where you can see the quilting fiber poking out.
