Vintage 1940s Muff Purse Fur Wool & Rayon, Art Deco Lucite Decoration
Great purse, but it has several condition issues.
From the 1940s, it is a grey and white fur midway down the front with gathered grey woven wool fabric below. The top, sides and bottom are a thick ribbed black rayon. The back is all fur, no wool. I'm guessing that the fur is chinchilla?
The purse has a clear lucite square on the front and back edge with black cord going through them. 2 cord straps. There is an opening on each side for your hands, to use the bag as a muff. Muff is lined with black rayon satin.
The top of the purse has a spring frame opening and the inside of the purse is lined in black rayon taffeta.
The purse is about 12 inches wide at the top, 14 wide at bottom and 10 inches long.
The purse is in fair to good condition. There is a tear down the front section of the fur.
The grey wool fabric has about five 1 inch tears along the bottom and there are many tiny scattered pinhead sized holes in the grey wool fabric. It looks great, it's when you look closely that you see the issues. The tear in the fur could be stitched.
