Antique 1800s Silk Floral Shawl with Provenance, Fringed China Silk, with issues

Pretty ivory silk with brown branches and pink and green flowers. The rayon fringe is teal, ivory and red. Hand sewn, no lining. Small puffed gathers around the edges. Comes with note of provenance - 'This shawl belonged to Catherine Ann Clapp (Young). It was brought to her from China by her uncle Benjamin Clapp who was and East India Tea Merchant. He was once captured by pirates and taken to the Island of Elba. The island to which Napoleon was exiled.'

CONDITION: The cape is in fair to good condition and it is delicate. More of a collectible item than something to wear. The silk has splits down the center-back from being folded for many years. Plus other small holes and splits scattered on it.
