The note says - 'Bedjacket and remnants of nightgown (crocheted yoke was made by Grandma Effie Ellis for her camisoles) Made by Verlynn (all by hand) for her wedding trouseau . Married June 20 1937. Lace was probably made around 1915'
So. Verlynn made herself a pretty ivory silk bedjacket for her trousseau in 1937, and she also made herself a nightgown of the matching silk, using a crochet yoke that was made and worn by her grandmother around 1915. Such a special piece! The hand sewn silk bedjacket has ruffles around the neck, wide ribbon ties on the front and shirred sleeves with ruffles.
The older crochet yoke is all that remains of the nightgown with just some silk of the gown attached to it.
CONDITION - The bedjacket is in excellent condition, no flaws seen.
The crochet yoke is very good, but with a few small breaks. The silk remaining is delicate with splits on each side and a wear hole on the back.
