Vintage Hankie Bag Holder, Handmade Shirt with Provenance 1910s to 1930s
Vintage Hankie Bag Holder, Handkerchief, Handmade Shirt with Provenance 1910s to 1930s
Very cute handmade bag to hold your soiled hankies.
The shirt is about 12 x 12 inches. Made of blue cotton with pink cotton trim, tiny decorative buttons, and old ribbon bows on the shoulders.
It has a silk ribbon on the top to hang it and the top is open to put your hankies inside of it.
Comes with handwritten noting giving the provenance of the bag -
'Soiled handkerchief bag. Hung on Grandma Ellis' bedroom door'
Grandma Ellis is Effie Randall Ellis 1866-1938.
I'm guessing that the bag was made in the 1910s, 1920s maybe 1930s.
The bag is in very good condition, lightly aged. The original ribbon for hanging was broken, so I added a new ribbon. The ribbon bows at the base of the new ribbon are old and original to the bag.
