Vintage Velvet and Lace Cape, 1920s Lace Shawl, 1930s Lingerie Cape
From the 1920s-1930s.
The cape is about 15 inches long in the back, 53 inches around the inner edges (front end to end around the neck)
This piece looks like is was from the bottom of the train of a 1920-30s robe or dressing gown. It's dark ivory cotton lace appliqued onto lavender silk velvet around the bottom. Cut in a circle, the inner edge of the lace was unsewn, so I handstitched it and it makes a perfect little cape or shawl. It is unlined.
Condition - Fair/Good, with issues. The lace is all very nice, no flaws there. But the velvet has many brown spots, 1/4 to 1/2 inch in size scattered around, mostly on the front ends. Also some light areas of browning. I have not tried to wash it. Has light smell of old fabric.
