Vintage Blue & Gold Brocade Gown 1920s, with Train and Silk Scarf, Rhinestone Straps, Beaded, large 40 bust, with issues
ERA: True vintage item from the late 1910s to 1920s
MEASUREMENTS: the item is 53 inches long, it will fit a 40 inch bust with room, 40 inch waist, 46 inches around hips. 38 inches around the top of the gown, train is 22 inches longer than the skirt. The scarf is 90 x 26 inches
MATERIAL: silk brocade, silk lining, beads, rhinestones
LABEL: 'Stix, Baer & Fuller, Saint Louis'
Blue satin with gold threaded brocade, floor length own with attached train. Double rhinestone straps that cross in the back. Straight neckline with angled drapes to the side of the dress where there are stiff gold mesh flowers. The side of the skirt is open down the side revealing a blue silk tulle panel with bugle beads and gold thread embroidery. There is a train that hangs from the back of the waist.
The skirt is lined in blue silk chiffon and ivory silk. The bodice is lined in ivory silk with a hooking band around the waist. There is gold silk tulle around the inside of the top of the bodice. The train is unlined. The dress closes with snaps across the back panel with hooks down the back of the bodice.
There is also a long narrow scarf made of gold silk with blue chiffon edges.
The price reflects the condition of the dress. If the dress was in excellent condition, it would be priced at well over $500.00
CONDITION: The gown is in good to very good condition but with some issues that need to be repaired for the dress to be worn.
The rhinestone straps have separated from there fabric bases and need to be resewn.
The gold under both arms has some wear.
There is a section on the train where the gold is either stained or aged.
The blue silk panel with beading has several large tears, the fabric is delicate and tears easily.
There are loose and missing beads on the blue panel.
The gold silk tulle lining around the inside at the top has tears.
The seams are splitting on the silk lining and there are several holes in that silk lining.
The silk tulle scarf has scattered small holes and tiny thready snags.
