Vintage Civil War Stockings, Home Spun & Hand Knit Cotton, with Provenance, 1800s 1863

MEASUREMENTS: 18 inches long from top to heel. The foot is 9-1/2 inches long.
MATERIAL: cotton
Great pair of antique stockings circa 1863. They are a thick cotton knit. They come with a note that says 'Knitted and worn by my mother Matura Hawkins during Civil War about 1863. She carded the cotton grown on her farm, spun into yard. Flora H.L.'
The stockings were made of home spun yarn from cotton that was grown on the Hawkins' family's farm and hand knitted by Matura Hawkins (1844-1912) The note was writted by her daughter Flora Hudson Livingston (1877-1966)

CONDITION: The stockings are in excellent condition. Lightly off white from age. No holes.
