ERA: True vintage item from the 1930s

MEASUREMENTS: The gown is 56 inches long, fits 36 inch bust with room in the bust but might be snug on the front of underarms, 31 inch waist, 48 inch hips. 150 inch hem sweep.

The bolero jacket is 12 inches long, 14-1/2 inches across the shoulders, 38 inch bust.

Very bright and bold evening gown with bright flowers of dark pink, blue, green, orange, white, purple and grey on a black background. The gown has thin straps, some shirring down the center of bust. Dark green crepe around the waist with metal side zipper. Long full skirt. Cropped bolero jacket with open front and short sleeves. Both pieces are unlined.

 

CONDITION: The gown is in good condition with some issues. A little shirring is unsewn at the top of the neckline and the neckline fabric needs to be sewn down. There is a 3 inch long tear on the side of the underarm with a piece missing. It looks like it tore because it was too tight under the arms. This tear needs to be repaired with extra fabric, or cut down lower on both sides of underarms. The straps have about 1 inch extra in the back to make them a little lower, which would also lower the underarms.

The dark green area has areas of orange fade on the front and the back. There are 15 scattered holes on the lower-front of the skirt. A few are in small groups., most holes are under 1/4 inch. About 5 more scattered holes on the skirt. The side zipper has been resewn or replaced, sloppily.

The bolero is in fair condition. It has some fade under the arms. One underarm has several tears. The fabric there is very dry and will continue to tear.
