#20-11- 1920s Sheer Tulle Turquoise Dress w/White Beading - $250.00

Era - 1920s
Measurements - Actual dress mesurements - 47 inches long, 45 inches wide under the arms, 48 wide at hips
Label - none
Fabric - rayon tulle with glass beading

Usually I tell you what measurements the dress will FIT, in this case I am giving you the actual measurements of the dress, since it has been altered. Very pretty tulle body, sheer with no lining or slip. Covered on front and back with white glass beads. The hem has a lower square on the front and the back. The dress is pullover style with no openings. The dress looks like it was originally open on both sides with just a strip of beading holding the front and back pieces together on the sides. But at some time, and this looks like an old alteration to me, someone added the tulle and beaded fringe down the sides of the dress. The added tulle is two layers and it is old RAYON tulle NOT nylon. The beading is old too and is actually a strip of beading handstitched onto the beaded fringe. You can see the original piece on each side with the matching white beading, and a piece of tulle was handstitched in above and below that small beaded section, then the fringe was stitched to the tulle by hand. Since it is all done by hand, you could remove it fairly easily to take it back to the original design. Again, this alteration and the fabric and beading used are old, I believe also from the 1920s.

Condition - Good condition. This dress needs some work to be wearable. One shoulder is torn open, with tears on each side. The top of the other shoulder has some small breaks starting in the tulle too. This dress weighs nearly 3 pounds so the shoulders need to be reinforced for the dress to be worn or displayed. The beading looks complete and I don't see any loose or missing beads on the body of the dress. There are about 10 small scated holes in the tulle in the body of the dress - all 1/4 inch or under. There are a few brown age spots.
Some of the fringed beading that has been added on the sides is coming unstitched - an easy fix if you want to keep the fringe and a good start if you want to remove it. The tulle on the sides is two layers, but it is dryer than the tulle on the body of the dress and more delicate. There are large holes in the side tule near the bottom on each side. Overall, it is a really awesome, amazing piece, excellent for any collection.

#V-443- 1920s Black Silk Lace Dress - $28.00 AS-IS

Era - 1920s
Measurements - 42 inches long, fits 32 inch bust, 30 inch waist, 38 hips
Label - none
Fabric - silk satin and silk lace

Sweet black dress that is lace over satin with thin straps underneath and blousey lace on the bodice. There is a band that hooks at the waist. There are pieces of lace scarves stitched around the skirt of the dress, trailing slightly below the hem of the dress. Snaps down the back on the lining and the lace.

Condition - Dress is in good condition. It would make a great display piece but the lace is too delicate for wear. There are scattered tears and holes in the lace. Not noticeable at a quick glance but more notieable upon closer look. Satin lining is strong and has only a few pin dot holes.
